Biography

Born in Russia in the ancient town of L'gov, Elena Tarvid sought her inspired passion for Classical Religious Music, studying Vocal Art throughout her whole life and becoming one of the prominent exponents of the Old Italian School of Singing, the famous "lost" art of classical singing.

 

After 7 years spent in L'gov Music School studying classical piano, Elena's experience in music and vocal arts continued in Kursk Music College. Elena then moved to Latvia and completed her basic musical education in Ventspils Music College where she received her Diploma as Conductor of Choir, Teacher of Solfeggio and Teacher of Classical Piano. In 1986 Elena moved to Moscow, where she took singing classes with the legendary russian mezzo-soprano Zara Doluhanova and began to give solo concerts as classical singer. Since 1992, Elena moved to the Latvian National Opera, and began to give solo concerts in Latvia and Europe (classical and opera arias). Since 1995, she dedicated herself only to classical sacred music, and began to perform in cathedrals and concert halls in Latvia, Russia and Europe. She then pursued further training in singing technique in Latvia with professor Lyudmila Braun, professor Anita Garanča. Since 1997 she worked under the guidance of singing teacher professor Irina Gavrilovici in Vienna, further improving in the Old Italian School of Singing. Her deep and exquisite sensitivity, self-awareness and emotional intelligence were also developed and nurtured through psychology and psychotherapy studies. Complete devotion to Classical Religious Music led Elena also to dedicate to the study of theology.

 

Elena Tarvid is a beautiful soft soprano, her voice having perfectly blended tones throughout the entire range, in harmony with nature and the ancestral laws of health, in the best tradition of the Old Italian School of Singing, which she also teaches to selected pupils. Her performances extend across the best arias of Classical Religious Music, including famous composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Antonio Vivaldi, Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni, Giulio Caccini, Charles-Camille Saint-Saens, Cesar Franck, Franz Peter Schubert and others. The powerful energy springing from Elena's voice gives harmony, delight and peace to spirit and soul.
